Old ’70s rock stars don’t die. They just continue grinding the ol’ ax.

I guess you can call this When Disgruntled Ex-Rock Stars Attack. Or maybe John Waite just pissed off a lot of people.

Andrew Sullivan says what needs to be said.

Jackson’s stuff after “Off the Wall” was paranoid, edgy, and no fun. But “Off the Wall” is a great record, miles above “Thriller,” mainly because Jackson sounds relaxed and seems to be having fun. Of course, offstage he was anything but relaxed and fun.

To quote Sully:

I loved his music. His young voice was almost a miracle, his poise in retrospect eery, his joy, tempered by pain, often unbearably uplifting. He made the greatest music video of all time; and he made some of the greatest records of all time. He was everything our culture worships; and yet he was obviously desperately unhappy, tortured, afraid and alone.

I’m so full of questions

With all the talk about Twitter and Facebook, I have to ask:

What ever happened to Second Life? Is anyone actually on Second Life?

Speaking of weird bands…

I saw Van der Graaf Generator on Sunday night. ‘Twas their first US show in 30 years. Of course I had to be there, as I’ve been a fan for years. My only regret is that they didn’t play anything from H to He Who Am the Only One or The Least We Can Do Is Wave to Each Other. But here’s the next best thing: a 1970 clip of the band. They’re older, grayer, and, in the drummer’s case, balder now, but can still, well, kick ass.

One of those weird European bands that nobody in America knows about except me. I really need to check out one of their albums. The singer, Inga Rumpf, formed a new band after this one, Atlantis, and is now a solo performer.

And another question…

…Where do wingnuts get the impression that liberals support Islamic terrorism? If that were true, wouldn’t there be a lot of liberals in Gitmo?

Really, they’re just making things up. Again.

Why don’t horny politicians save themselves a lot of humiliation by reading Playboy? They can always say that they read it for the articles.

I’m curious…
